Tis The Season #Octoween No.1

Lets be honest, the best thing about October is Halloween. It’s probably the best thing about the whole entire fall season! All the scare and gore, dressing up, eating sweets, Halloween specials and the confusion of of weather Nightmare Before Christmas is a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie…?

Speaking of movies…

When if comes to halloween I love watching things that get me in the spirit of the “darkness”.  The typical go to anyone would recommend is horror, it scares the bejeezus out of you and would creep you out for days. As  much as I love horror movies I usually go for something else to get into the spirit of all hallows eve…Yes I’m talking about the kiddy genre we -by we I mean I- can’t out grow.

So heres the bestest of the best not so typical Halloween movie list -if I do say so myself-:

1. The Black Cauldron

Disney’s first animated movie is as creepy as they come, especially since the main villain The Horned King is more or less a demonic zombie trying to take over by raising an army of undead solders. It follows the heroic tail of some kid with a pig and the rest of his gang fight to stop the bad guy.

2. The Adventure of Ichabod and Mr. Toad

Basically Disney-fide version of The Headless Horseman aka: Sleepy Hallow. Ichabod Crane is a goofy scaredy cat with some smooth dance moves.

3. Gremlins

Adorable monsters rampaging the land…need I say more?

4. Jumanji

Whats better than a jump scare filled movie about a board game coming to life and wont stop throwing animals, hunters and storms your way till you finish the game to get you in the mood to play some board games with your friends…no?… just me? ok then.

R.I.P Robin Williams…

5. Disney Halloween

Not sure if it should be considered a movie or not since its a The wonderful World Of Disney episode. It’s pretty long and its full of music and dancing skeletons and is just a fun thing to zone out too at the wee hours of the night.

6. The Tim Burton Collection:

As a director and producer Tim Burton knows exactly how to capture the essen of Halloween in almost every movie he ever made, which is why I listed him personally and not just his movies. The images above are my favorites from his work and the vibe I’m going for.

7. Hocus Pocus (duh!)

How can one mention Halloween movies and not mention the reigning supreme of them all? if you’re calling me basic, I don’t care it’s a damn good movie! It follows the story of 3 witches who stay young by devouring children. a pair of siblings, a girl and a talking cat try to stop them.

These are basically my Favorite Halloweeny movies I love to watch that wont keep me up at night. Hope you like them too, and if you haven’t seen any other them before check them out and let me know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Now please enjoy these lovely creepy short Disney animations which I also love:
